  1. Cold Turkey 5K & Little Turkeys Fun Run (All Ages) 2022 – Thanksgiving morning November 24 at 8:30 am in Franklin, NC This year’s Cold Turkey will be a benefit for Macon County Special Olympics
  2. 35th Annual Hard-Candy Christmas – Nov 25 at 10 am until Nov 26 at 5 pm. Mountain Artisans Hard Candy Christmas includes a hundred regional artisans who have their handmade on display for sale in this folk and heritage craft show. The show has everything from quilters to soap makers, basket makers, leather craftsmen, master jewelers, and more. Starting in 1987, the event has grown every year and now takes place at Western Carolina University’s Ramsey Center in Cullowhee, NC.
  3. Winter Wonderland Nights – November 26 and December 3 Franklin’s Historic Downtown is transformed into a “Winter Wonderland” on both November 26 and December 3 with everything from enhanced holiday decor to live sounds of the season outdoors at their downtown gazebo and inside stores. The first night, Dec 3 includes the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7:00pm on the Square There will also be FREE attractions (weather permitting) that are sure not to disappoint! Plus, all of your favorite businesses have great sales going on.
  4. Franklin’s Annual Christmas Parade is on November 27 at 3 pm. A wonderful tradition falling on the Sunday after Thanksgiving is the procession of the Franklin Christmas Parade. The Grand Marshall will honor all of our essential workers.
  5. Christmas Back Home – December 2, 7 – 9 pm at Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts Christmas Back Home is the perfect way to start your holiday season. This concert will have you tapping your toes and singing along with some favorite tunes from around Christmas time, as well as original songs that are sure to become classics! With bluesy saxophones playing alongside guitar solos in addition to other instruments such as percussionists or keyboard players; this musical performance has something for everyone who enjoys catchy rhythms combined with sweet melodies played on antique equipment–it’s A guaranteed celebration of all things festive about wintertime.
  6. Dillsboro Lights and Luminaries – On Dec 10 and Dec 11 in nearby Dillsboro, journey back to the days of yesteryear. Experience the magic as the entire town is transformed into a winter wonderland of lights, candles, laughter, and song! 2,500 luminaries light your way to shops and studios as shopkeepers provide holiday treats with hot cider and cocoa. Enjoy live music while the children will experience a socially distant and safe visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event has been named as one of the “Top 20” events in the Southeast for the month of December.
  7. Ugly Sweater Party at Currahee Brewing Co. will be Saturday, December 10 from 7 to 10 pm
  8. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer- The Musical on Sat, Dec 17, 2 – 3 PM at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts
  9. Home for the Holidays Dec 17 – 31 at the Highlands Playhouse Celebrate the season as we make magic in the mountains this holiday. Sing along to your favorite holiday hits while being dazzled by high-energy choreography, beautiful costumes, a triple-threat cast, and incredible live musicians.
